Mangaluru: ICYM celebrates feast of Assumption of Mother Mary, Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav

Mangaluru, Aug 23: As ICYM Mangalore diocese completes 75 years of existence, its another milestone for all the youth of Mangalore diocese to celebrate 75th year Independence Day.

Catholics the world over celebrated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. It was glorious. The Feast of the Assumption celebrates the Catholic teaching that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was assumed body and soul into heaven. Also on that day the sense of happiness and pride could be clearly seen on the faces of all the people as India was celebrating its 75th Independence Day on 15th August. To mark this auspicious occasion youth of Mangalore diocese celebrated Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary and Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav on 15th of August in different parishes.

On this auspicious occasion youth of Mangalore diocese started their day by celebrating holy eucharist mass and followed by flag hosting and reciting the preamble of Indian Constitution under “An Ode to the Preamble - Recite to Unite” initiative of ICYM Mangalore diocese.

Directors, assistant directors and animators of the units, parishioners, school children, ICYM members witnessed the occasion by being present for the programme.
