Dubai, Sep 14: Mukut Mogarnad celebrated the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Friday, September 13 at London Suites Hotel, Dubai with gaiety and great devotion. Over 150 members from Mogarnad parish took part in the celebration with lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
The traditional celebration commenced with hymns, prayer, and gospel reading. The auditorium resonated with the mellifluous strains of ‘Sakkad Sangatha Melya’ and ‘Moriek Hogolsea’ as the flowers of all hues and colors showered upon “Maria Bambina” turned the floor into a beautiful floral carpet.
Fr Stephen Lewis, assistant parish priest, St Michael’s Church, Sharjah and Fr Melwyn Lobo, principal Udaya English School Mangeshwar, and a parishioner of Mogarnad, graced the occasion and led the Prayers.
‘Novem’ was blessed by the priests and was distributed to all present.
Uttam, a well-known compere in Dubai took charge of the programme and kept the crowd amused and occupied with his jokes and games.
Mukut Mogarnad vice-president, Delson D’Silva, welcomed the guests of honor and all the people who were gathered.
In his message, Fr Stephen spoke about the love amongst Mogarnad People as the word Mogarnad itself denotes ‘Mogacho Naad’ while Fr Melwyn spoke about the unity among the parishners here and called upon everyone to help the needy. Addressing the gathering, president, Ronald Martis, appreciated and acknowledged the efforts by all the committee members for organizing the event and requested the parishioners to support the causes of Mogarnad parish.
On the occasion, a new Konkani Songs CD ‘Vengenth Moga’ of Nelson Mathias was released in the presence of Fr Stephen Fr Melwyn and Deepak Paladka.
An auction conducted by Uttam for the cause of new church hall saw a competitive participation among the youth.
Various spot games by Uttam kept the crowd cheering and ecstatic. A variety entertainment by youngsters under the leadership of Noel Rosario and some scintillating dance performances by children kept the crowd amused.
As per ritual, a ceremonial vegetarian meal and vorn was served to all.
The programme concluded with a splendid ‘baila dance’ by the entire gathering. The music was provided by DJ Lancy.
