Fujairah: Monthi fest celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church

Fujairah, Sep 18: The Konkani community of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church here, celebrated the feast of Nativity of blessed mother on September 13.

Fr Jawahar Coutinho, a visiting priest from Mangaluru was the main celebrant.

The celebration began with the blessing of new corn in front of the grotto. The faithful then went in procession and took part in a solemn eucharistic celebration.

The melodious Konkani choir lead by Aenson Matthias and Wilson D'Souza helped in creating a feeling of reverence among the faithful. 

Fr Jawahar emphasized the importance of family life and the powerful intercession of blessed mother in one’s life.



 

Later, the children showered flowers in front of the statue of infant Mary while the choir sang the Marian hymns. Thereafter, everyone gathered in the church hall for the traditional Noven Jevan.

Parish priest Fr Rajan, other priests and leaders from different communities in the parish were present during the programme. 

Vincent Barboza, the president of Canara Catholics Fujairah, welcomed everyone. A melodious hymn ‘Ballok Moriye’ was sung by the choir and then ‘noven’ was served to all. 

A beautiful dance performed by young girls Andrea, Vian, Riona, Larissa, Leona and Giana which was choreographed by Teena Peres, mesmerized the gathering. 

‘Vengeth Moga’ a Konkani CD by Nelson Mathias was released during the occasion in the presence of Roshan D’Silva Dubai.

Fr Rajan thanked the Canara Catholics Fujairah for their continuous support and active participation in all activities of the church. 

Delicious vegetarian food prepared by the CCF committee members was served to all on banana leaves.
