New 17-bed casualty ward to be opened at GMC

Panaji, Sep 24: Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, will soon have a 17-bed casualty ward. The hospital tends to over 40-50 accident-related cases in a given day.

Earlier since there was no separate ward for trauma and accident victims, head injury cases were sent to the neurosurgery department. Considering the complications associated with neurological injuries, the victims concerned were required to stay at the hospital for a longer time. This caused patients requiring neurosurgery to suffer.

Realising the need for the new ward, construction of the casualty ward was undertaken. The new independent ward will be commissioned before the year 2019. It will be headed by Dr Rajesh Patil.
