Mangalore: Prostitution Racket Busted in City - Six Arrested

Mangalore, May 21: The police unearthed a prostitution network at a lodge in Maidan Road here, following a raid led by ACP Ravindra Gadadi on Saturday May 21.

The persons nabbed by the police during the raid have been identified as customers Harish, Abbas, Arun, room boy Ravi and cleaner Rajesh.

The woman involved in the racket is Mumtaz (26) from Andra Pradesh. Her husband is said to have abandoned her. She too has been arrested.

Owner Laxman Achari of 'Samruddhi' lodge, where the racket was allegedly running, and manager Ashraf are absconding.
 
It is alleged the clandestine activity has been running for the last few years with support from unknown quarters. A case has been registered at the Bunder police station and investigations are on. Police team comprising Ravi, Dinesh and Shambha took part in the raid operation.

    The profession of prostitution is centuries old or as old as man himself. It is being practiced all over the world. It is flourishing in europe as well as the so called strict islamic gulf nations. In some countries it is legal but in India at the moment it is illegal. I am not a supporter of what is going on but no one can stop it that easily. So what can anyone say or do about it? It is right in some countries and wrong in others. It is a million dollar question. You cannot simply say something for the sake of saying.

    exactly dude... bajaranga dal are only jealous of others who roam with girls.. they never get any girls due to their bad image in the society . thats why they will find these lodges where prostitution is held and they never protest these activities

    Prostitution, drug pushing etc
    are going to undermine the moral
    strength of a nation, besides
    financial ruin and diseases associated with sex trade. Prostitution is the oldest
    business in the world.

    But, we see a very deep disparity
    as well as a calculated trick
    while catching the culprits
    associated with the business of
    prostitution.

    If the same is done in five
    star hotels and the clients are
    politicians or top notch business
    people, the police or government
    will be too cautious, indeed
    bewildered to arrest them.

    Government is spending crores of
    Rs on projects without any
    accountability, but terribly
    failed to look after the social
    needs of those people who were
    rather forced into this business
    due to various reasons of total
    helplessness and mental despondency. We can't expect
    the government to solve this
    problem, but if the kind hearted
    people will open their hearts and
    bill fold, something can be done.

    99% of the sex workers were either forced into this by others / pimps or they were abandoned or cheated by their trusted relatives/ friends. Who knows how many of them were kidnapped from their families by the pimps. As fellow human beings we should be sympathetic towards their plight instead of throwing stones at them. They need to be rehabilitated by the Govt. so that they lead a normal life.

    Legalize prostitution and implement brothels away from families and homes. Make sections, in brothels. One for the clean and healthy and the other for the sick. Every man comes in should be checked and let in accordingly. Compulsory, regular consultation on health and sickness of mind, body and spirit (as per the religion (no interfearance please)) is the responsibility of the Government and the volunteers. Ones who opt for prostitution should not be allowed to conceive "*" and should lock themselves in brothels and should not mingle in the society. "prostitution" is a big community can sustain on its own without the support of the family. Have confinements/compounds to meet their loved ones, if their loved ones wish to do so.
    "*" - Lots to say, but no time and space. Therefore, discuss. All unswered questions will be answered.

    Dont the police have any better job to do who claim shortage of men for the more important work.police have to arrange rehabilitation to such women insead of putting them in jail. this raid is only a cheap publicity stunt. and it is also important to note that preventing prostitution will lead to increase in crimes against women.

    Your statement is really baseless and posted on a inappropriate scenario. Not because you are pointing on some activists group,but for trying to discriminate christians from others. We, most of the mangaloreans grew up in such a society where we believed christians are our brothers and christmas is also our festival.At some very unfortunate time and because of some narrow minded people we temperorily lost the harmony somewhere. But by posting such comments you are trying to increase the distance between two communities, atleast on those people who will become very sensitive whenever they hear their commmunities name.

    Why the poor hotel staff is arrested and exposed by the media, where as the real culprists are absconding ? The poor lady has been arrested and will be sentenced by the court. Once the sentence is over, is there any provision/arrangement by govt. for her to lead a decent life ? I do not think a woman would go for flesh trade voluntarily unless the situation/circumstances compells her to do so. Honestly, the self proclaimed protectors of women - Rama Sene, Bajrang Dal should take initiative to protect this kind of women, instead of stirring troubles for the people who are selflessly serving the orphans and the needy.

    I have been reading about these raids on brothels and hotels nabbing prostitutes and taking them to the Police Stations and filing cases against them. However has any made an analysis to go to the root cause of the problem?. As said by one of the commentators women take to prostitution because they are unhappy at home. Sometimes College girls take to this kind of life to earn a quick buck. If one can identify the crux of the problem or the cause of it, one could try and help these women who stoop to this kind of trade. It is therefore expedient that the police work in conjunction with social workers and introduce counseling procedures and ensure that the cause of the situation is eradicated before being harsh with the sex workers. Will The Police and more particularly the higher ups make a note of this suggestion and approach the right people for professional advice and thus reduce the crime.

    PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN THE CURE. This term rightly applies to this prevailing situation.

    Is Bajaranga dala is sleeping now? I bet they have their strong hand behind this. At the end they need money to do all bad activities in Mangalore looting Christians. So of course this is the way of generating revenue for them. Bajarangis, where is your so called love for the country? Never know they too are satisfieng their hunger by doing all these things. Wake up guys. Youth are the pillars of the nation. Be the pillars than trying to break the building. Stop doing all these insane activities instead learn to live with unity and love.

    Whom should we blame? girls who are sex workers abandoned by husband/family? hotels who run this? government who allow this? or finally customers who go there ( sex hungers)?
    why customers and sex workers to be blamed? No sexworker is by freewill to become (majority) unlike erupians. Afterall man is made of blood and flesh. if biological need is not satisfied at home where will he go ? If a man is not married how can he supress himself? sex should be at free will in other words consensual . that is it.

    Recently ther is a survey in europes that majority of college students opt sexual work for earning more and easily.
