Bantwal: Rarest of rare Gejjekatti, palmleaf inscriptions found

Bantwal, Dec 16: The ancient Gejjekatti and Palmleaf texts were found during Ashtamangala Prashne Chintane that was held at the prestigious Billava family of Suvarna at their Keddeluguthu Mane. The finidings have generated a lot of curiosity among the locals.

According to the answers that were got during Prashnachintane, both Gejjekatti and Palmleaf texts belonged to the medicinal, tantra and mantra rituals of Pandi Poojary lineage. In the palmleaf text, along with the medicinal system there is a mention of worship of Bhadrakali and Veerabhadra that was followed by ancient people then.

The palmleaf text is in Kannada script and is believed to be rarest of rare that is related to ancient medicinal system and Tantra Agama Shastra rituals. The Gejjekatti that was found along with the text also has historial importance. The full details will be known after historical experts will decipher the writings in the text.
