Mangaluru: Orientation programme for II PU students on NEP held

Mangaluru, Jan 21: IQAC of GFGC Kavoor organised an orientation programme on National Education Policy (NEP) for all the students of Government PU College, Kavoor on January 20 in the college auditorium.

The objective behind this programme was to bring about clarity among the II PU students regarding NEP 2020. It is fixed in every PU students mind that graduation under NEP is for 4 years. It was very clearly explained to them that graduation under NEP is 3+1 years and not 4 years as they understood. Also, the benefit of the 4th year was put in perspective so as to help them take the right career decision.

Also, it was a beautiful opportunity for the college to put forward the achievements of the college, facilities available, about resourceful staff, associations and activities that the college conducts regularly and also confidence building among PU students to pursue higher education.

Priincipal Dr Shivarama P welcomed the PU students, Deepthi, an alumni of GPUC Kavoor and presently I BCom student of GFGC Kavoor spoke as to what benefits did she find in joining GFGC Kavoor, Rekha S N, department of English spoke about Learning Management System (LMS), Prameela Rao, department of political science, spoke about different associations, Louis Manoj, IQAC coordinator spoke about NEP, general aspects of the college, its future plans with a note of motivation to join GFGC Kavoor.

Thereafter, the students were taken around the library, office, principal’s chamber, classrooms, computer lab and staff room to help them make sure of the facilities. All in all, it was a beautiful opportunity for the PU students to understand the degree college, its history and its future plan.

Mamatha, IQAC co-coordinator, Amruthakshi, department of Kannada and Mohini, department of commerce, were present during the session. Around 130 students of PU College participated in this orientation programme.
