Puttur, May 12: Water began to flow in the Netravati river which turned dry a month ago.
Due to the sporadic rains that are occurring in the district of Dakshina Kannada (DK), the river is back to life and water began to flow on the morning of Thursday itself.
From April 6, water flow stopped completely in the river and the dry barren ground was visible. Birds were preying on the sea creatures that were living in the river as the water dried out and they lost their lives.
On Thursday, moderate rain lashed in many parts in and around the river. In the night too, rain accompanied by thunder and lightning hit the district in many places. As the underground drainages are closed due to highway work, water could not flow freely and overflowed in many areas.
