Mangaluru, Jul 21: Srinivas Institute of Technology’s Anti-drug Cell organized a session in association with authorities of district administration, Dakshina Kannada and rural police station, Vamanjoor to promote awareness against drug abuse among college students on July 19 at Srinivas campus.
Anti-drugs campaign aims to restrict its peddling, create awareness of its abuse, reduce its consumption and rehabilitate the addicted. The staff of the rural police station Vamanjoor Kamala, Sikandar and Tirumalesh were present and addressed students of SIT. They explained adverse effects of using drugs and consequences and ill effects on family. They urged the youth to involve themselves to be part of the campaign against drugs.
Short movies shown which depicts the how drug peddlers attract innocent students and how it spoils life of the students and their family members. The programme was coordinated by Dr Anant Kumar Kulkarni, Prof Mohamed Gowspeer and Prof Tony K Sebastian. Prof Jayaram Thumbay was the master of ceremony. The event was conducted successfully with the support and guidance of Dr Shrinivasa Mayya D, principal, SIT, Mangaluru.
