Mangaluru, Sep 19: The School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya, Mangaluru organized its annual retreat ‘Redamancy 2023' in the college auditorium on September 15- 16. It was a spiritually enriching and transformative event jointly organised by AICUF and Jesus Youth team of the college.
The retreat was meticulously planned with a diverse range of sessions and activities led by dedicated facilitators and speakers. The retreat commenced on September 15 at 8.45 AM with the Holy Mass presided over by Fr Jerry V M SDB, priest of Dimapur, Nagaland Province and lecturer of Philosophy at Salesian College of Higher Education.
The MC Team organised a flash mob and ice-session to create an engaging and inclusive atmosphere. A 30-minute praise and worship were conducted by the Jesus Youth Mangalore Music Ministry (JYMMM). At 10.30 AM, Fr Jerry V M delivered an insightful talk exploring the concept God and our connection with Him. The session continued with music and action song led by the theatre team.
At 11.40 AM Dr Suraj Noronha elaborated on the practical aspects of communication with God and how to connect with him every day. Before lunch break, Deepthi Moras shared a personal testimony, offering inspiration and real-life examples of faith.
The lunch break was followed by an action song by the theatre team which was concluded by a prayer. The third session of the day was ‘What happens when we sin? How to come out of sins and its consequences’ which was delivered by Fr Jerry. Theatre team carried out a skit to facilitate a deeper understanding of confession. Adoration and confessions were carried out from 3.00 PM. The first day of the retreat came to an end at 4.30 PM with healing adoration allowing attendees to experience a meditative and calming atmosphere.
The second day (September 16) of the retreat featured a well-structured schedule comprising various sessions, music, and activities. The day began at 9.30 am with the participants gathering for the event who were welcomed by the MCs. The Jesus Youth Mangalore Music Ministry team introduced a lively music segment to energise the audience. This was followed by a 15-minute session of praise and worship.
The first session of the day was taken by Brayn Dias about the challenges faced by today’s youth and how to overcome them with the help of word of god. At 11:20 AM the MCs led an engaging group dynamics activity to encourage interaction and collaboration among attendees and the JYMMM conducted a music session.
The attendees were welcomed back after lunch break by an action song by JYMMM and theatre team at 1.30 PM. Chinnu from Father Muller’s shared a heartfelt testimony, inspiring attendees with personal experiences. Her testimony was followed by an interesting session by Jyothi Vaz about the importance of living joyfully with guidance of Holy Spirit. After this session Jennica Fernandes and Minola Saldanha briefed about AICUF and Jesus Youth movement respectively.
The two days retreat ended with Holy mass at 2.45 PM. During the homily of the mass Fr. Jerry spoke about Holy Eucharist and eucharistic Miracles. The gathering concluded with a celebration, including action songs that lifted spirits and fostered a sense of togetherness.
On the whole the retreat was a great success, providing the participants with a spiritually enriching and transformative experience. The retreat's diverse range of sessions and activities focused on important themes such as prayer, self-discovery, building relationships, and living a purposeful life. The participants were able to bond with each other and develop a sense of community through various games and team-building activities.
The entire programme was meticulously coordinated by Rancy Josmitha D’Souza, assistant professor and AICUF co-ordinator of the college.
