Mumbai, Sep 13: The Chhatrapati Shivaji airport here on Tuesday September 13 has been put on high alert after the Maharashtra government received intelligence reports of a possible terror attack.

Sources said that there has been a warning of a terror attack from a small plane or a helicopter. Hence, security at the airport has been directed to be extra cautious in verifying and checking all those who hire such aircraft.

Private helipads and airports not in operation now have also been put under scanner, it is learnt.

September 13 marks the third anniversary of the 2008 Delhi serial blasts. Security has also been beefed at Delhi and other major airports in the country. Shopping malls, markets and other public places have also been put under tight security.

Home minister P Chidambaram met Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and top police officers of the state on Monday September 12 to review security in the state.
