Udupi, Feb 22: Dr Padmaraj Hegde, dean of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, inaugurated the Centre of Excellence in Immunohematology. The launch ceremony included the unveiling of the 'Essence of Immunohematology' hands-on workshop, which saw active participation from over 70 doctors and technical staff. The event marked a significant milestone in advancing healthcare solutions and promoting knowledge-sharing within the medical community.
During the ceremony, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent of Kasturba Hospital Manipal, released the brochure of the centre, providing a comprehensive overview of its state-of-the-art facilities and services. Ravi Sinha, country director for India and SAARC at QuidelOrtho, presented on QuidelOrtho’s commitment towards healthcare, emphasizing their role in supporting advancements in medical research and technology.
Krishnamurthy, general manager of QuidelOrtho, India, shared insights into the vision of the Centre of Excellence, highlighting its potential impact on immunohematology practices. Dr Shamee Shastry, the coordinator of the centre, welcomed the gathering and said that the advanced immunohematology lab is equipped with automation and cutting-edge technology. This lab is designed to identify and resolve cases involving complex antigens and multiple antibodies to red blood cell antigens. She emphasized the centre’s role as a national reference laboratory, poised to offer its services to other blood centres. The centre’s commitment to excellence in immunohematology was further demonstrated through the successful 'Essence of Immunohematology' hands-on workshop, where participants actively engaged in learning and knowledge exchange. Dr Ganesh Mohan, associate professor of the department proposed vote of thanks.
