Udupi, April 13: “As many as 6,100 voters differently-abled and those above the age of 85 years in Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency can cast their votes from their homes as such facilities are being put in place for them,” said deputy commissioner Vidya Kumari K.
She was speaking after observing the voting process in a house of an elderly person at Kalya grama, Kaup on Saturday, April 13.
“There are 4,474 differently-abled and those above 85 years of age in Udupi number about 1,626 in Chikkamagaluru district. They can cast their votes from April 13 to April 17,” she said.
“Arrangements for voting are being put in place for 1,057 aged voters and 216 PDLUDI voters in Udupi from April 14 to April 16. A total of 764 aged voters and 197 Pdludi voters in Kundapura can cast their votes from April 14 to April 16, 851 aged voters and 250 Pdludi voters in Kaup from April 13 to April 15, 854 aged voters and 285 PDL UDI voters in Karkala from April 13 to 15, 91 aged and 28 PDL UDI voters at Chikkamagaluru from April 14 to 16, 237 aged voters and 95 PDL UDI voters in Mudigere, 309 aged voters and 123 PDLUDI voters in Tarikere, 501 aged voters and 247 PDL UDI voters in Shringeri,” she said.
“There are booth officers, assistant booth officers, BLO and micro observers in the team. The voting process will be video recorded. Secret ballot will be insisted upon the voters,” she said,
“If the voters are unavailable at home, the officials will visit their houses again. BLO will be informing in advance about the time of their visits,” the deputy commissioner said.
The officials will be carrying the voter’s list, pen, ink pad, envelopes, registers, voting compartment etc.
