Ankola, May 21: Ramachandra Nayak, also known as Puttu, owner of Sri Rama Enterprises located in Keni or Ankola, is the epitome of grit and determination. Despite being affected by polio, he has provided a livelihood for more than ten families.

Ramachandra lost control of both his legs at the tender age of six due to polio. However, he did not get bogged down. After five years of bed rest, he took woodcraft training in Hubballi. Then he worked for five to six years as an assistant in carpentry and wood carving under various people in Ankola and Hubballi.

Ramachandra became famous for his skill in wood carving. He was so popular that the people of Ankola wanted only the sofas and other wooden furniture built by him.

Ramachandra is 29 years old now. He opened Sri Rama Enterprises, a furniture-making and selling shop, four years ago. Now he is providing a livelihood to eight people.

A movie named ‘Srikant’ is being produced based on the successful blind businessman Srikant Bolla. Similarly, Ramachandra is a successful businessman in Ankola, an achiever who has defied all challenges thrown at him by life.
