Dubai: Kannada Pathashale School celebrates 10th anniversary

Mumbai (RBI), Jun 3: Kannada Pathashale Dubai, the world's largest Kannada learning center operated by the Kannada Mitraru UAE Organization, celebrated its 10th annual academic convocation and decennial celebration in Dubai recently. The grand event was held in the auditorium of the Indian Academy.

Ravi Hegde, editor-in-chief of Asianet Suvarna News and Kannada Prabha daily, was the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Praveen Kumar Shetty Wakwadi, President of Karnataka NRI UAE; Mohan Narasimhamurthy, State President of Karnataka Prajashakti Samiti; Dr. Vishwanath J.P., Head of Bhima Jewellers; U Nagaraja Rao of Karnataka Sangha Dubai; Grand Patron Dr. B K Yusuf; Harish Sherigar, Head of Acme Institute; and Govinda Nayka, Dubai Head of JSS Educational Institutions. All the guests expressed their appreciation for the Kannada school and extended their best wishes to the school team.

Shashidhar Nagarajappa, the founder president of UAE Kannada Mitra, lauded the Kannada concern of Shivraj Tangadigi, Minister of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka, and congratulated the Kannada Development Authority of Karnataka Government for recognizing the organization of Kannada Patha School Dubai. He also thanked the Secretary of the Authority, Santosh Hanagalla, for his cooperation.

During the ceremony, the annual 'Kannada Mitra' award of the UAE organization was presented to Abdul Latif SM Jahgidar, who donated one acre of land to a government school in his town, as well as to Praveen Kumar Shetty Wakwadi and Mohan Narasimhamurthy, who served as patrons of Kannada Patha School Dubai for 10 years. Praveen Kumar Shetty Wakwadi was honored with the 'Kannada Ratna' award.

In a Guru Vandana programme, Roopa Shashidhar and Shilpa Siddalingesh, who have selflessly served the school for a decade without pay, were awarded the title of "Teacher of the Decade." Additionally, Manasa Naveen Hegde, Manjula Prakash Bagi, Deep Somasekar Tejaswi, and Vinuta Suresh Masur, who served as teachers for more than four years without pay, along with Bindu Madevappa Koppala, were honored with the title of "Shikshana Kaustubha." Eleven other teachers were recognized with the title of "Teacher of the Year."

The programme was hosted by Kavya Yuvraj, Bindu Mahadev, and Chetana Gavaskar. Treasurer Nagaraj Rao Udupi proposed the vote of thanks.
