Udupi: Students of SMVITM visit Hosabelaku old age home

Media Release

Udupi, Jun 15: Aasare, the Counselling Cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, in collaboration with its NSS wing arranged a visit for its students to Hosa Belaku, an old age home at Ranganapalke on Bailur Karkala Road on June 12.

Around 45-50 students visited the old age home along with a few faculty members. It was arranged to help the students become socially sensitive, realize their gratefulness and privilege and understand the older generations, their problems, their challenges and their stories. For the faculty, it was a humbling reminder of the uncertainty of life and the realization.

The interactions with the members of Hosabelaku were heartwarming as the students gained deeper insights into the situations. Some of the members shared their stories and felt safe and happy at Hosabelaku. Students performed entertaining programmes with songs, dance and games, involving all the inmates of Hosabelaku.

Dr Tirumaleshwara Bhat, principal of the college is very much supportive to organize such programmes.
