Mangaluru, Jun 24: "Put yourself to attempt the highest, the best. Your initiative will spur others to follow suit," said Mother Aloysia. She stands out as a woman we shall always remember with love and gratitude as the founder of our college.
The college celebrated 104 years of educating and empowering girls on June 22. The programme commenced with a prayer song. The chief guest, Dr Mahima Khandige, a proud alumna of St Agnes PU College, in her address focused on the importance of service learning and its impact on the society and she wished good luck to all the students.
A dance drama which gave a glimpse of Mother Aloysia’s vision on educating girl child was performed by the students. A documentary on St Agnes PU College was presented.
As a mark of respect and reverence, flowers were offered on the portrait of Mother Aloysia. To mark the joyous occasion of foundation day, service learning was inaugurated by the chief guest. The students of II HEPP extended their service learning to the specially-abled children of St Agnes Special School.
The principal, Sr Norine Dsouza, vice-principal Sr Janet Sequeira, convenors of the programme Shubhavani, Department of Computer Science and Carol Lobo, Department of Mathematics, the faculty and the students were present for the programme.
Elain Fernandes compered the programme. A heartfelt welcome speech was delivered by Sandra. The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Jonita, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the foundation day.
