Udupi, Jun 24: “While the Congress party is busy criticizing the Central government for twisting the constitution, people should know the truth about who actually tried to twist the constitution and who took away the rights of the people by imposing an emergency in the country,” said Kishor Kumar Kundapura, Udupi district president of BJP. The statement was made during a protest by BJP Udupi office members against Congress for accusing the central government of constitutional manipulation.
During the protest, BJP released posters against Congress and its members, demanding apologies from Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. They also questioned the silence of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah.
Addressing the media, Kishor Kumar Kundapura said, “June 25, 1975, is considered a black day in the history of Indian democracy. Now the Congress party is criticizing the Modi-led central government for twisting the constitution, but the same party imposed an emergency under Indira Gandhi, effectively killing the Constitution of India. Basic human rights were suspended, and people were tortured in the most inhuman manner.”
Speaking about the party's activities, programs, and initiatives, he said, “Members of BJP always work with loyalty and faith, which sets the party apart from others. After the elections and results, BJP members have continued their work. On June 5, World Environment Day was celebrated under the tagline ‘Ek Ped Ma Ke Nam.’ This initiative will continue until July 3. On June 21, we protested against the sudden hike in petrol and diesel prices. On the same day, International Yoga Day was observed not only centrally but also in every block. On June 23, we paid tribute to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at the block and mandala levels.”
Further discussing upcoming initiatives, Kishor Kumar said, “A plastic-free campaign under the ‘Swachh Bharat, Arogya Bharat’ program will be conducted from June 23 to July 6, focusing on cleaning lakes, wells, and other water bodies. A massive protest will be led by BJP District Raita Morcha near the DC Office in Udupi regarding the fulfillment of various farmer demands. We will besiege the DC Office on June 28 to condemn the misuse of grant-in-aids for SCs and STs. The very popular ‘Mann Ki Baat’ by the Honorable Prime Minister will be held on June 30. All party members will watch it together, and I urge every individual to watch it.”
Jayaram Shetty, vice president of Udupi district BJP, Reshma Uday Kumar, Udupi district BJP secretary, Srinidhi Hegde, media spokesperson, Girish Kanchan, and others were present.
