Udupi: Brahmagiri empty flats break-in bid - Masked robbers still at large

Udupi, Aug 4: Police have yet to find any clues about the five masked men who entered three apartments in Brahmagiri on the night of July 31 and made off with valuables.

Though CCTV footage of the thieves is available, no clear images have emerged. A special team has been formed under the leadership of the city police station inspector, and all angles are being investigated.

Meanwhile, night patrols have been intensified in all police stations across the district. According to information provided by SP Dr Arun, incidents of chain snatching and house burglary have decreased compared to last year.

In 2022, there were 16 murders, eight chain snatchings, 15 daylight robberies, and 96 night robberies reported. In 2023, there were 12 murders, 10 chain snatchings, 17 daylight robberies, and 80 night robberies reported. In 2024, up to July 31, there have been two murders, two chain snatchings, 11 daylight robberies, and 43 night robberies reported.
