Ninth day’s Novena held at Our Lady of Health Minor Basilica, Harihara

Davanagere Sep 7: The ninth day’s Novena at Our Lady of Health, Minor Basilica, Harihara, Davanagere district, diocese of Shimoga, began with rosary, procession and floral homages to Harihara Matha. Then Basilica rector & parish priest Fr George K A led the Novena.

Dr Duming Dias, bishop of diocese of Karwar celebrated Holy Eucharist. He preached his homily on the theme: 'Mother Mary intercedes with her Son Jesus and heals the Sick'.

In his homily explained how families have shattered due to sickness. "Places like Harihara Basilica give hope to those people who come over here with sickness. In the Bible we see how Jesus heals the sick and suffering. Blessed Mother intercedes for all those who seek her help and God hears her prayers. Taking care of the sick and suffering needs a lot of patience in one's life. We have to learn from the Blessed Mother's life serenity, service, humility and generosity. Through her intercessory prayer Lord Jesus grants healing for the people," he said. 

Dr Francis Serrao SJ, bishop of Diocese of Shimoga concelebrated the Holy Eucharist. Fr Roman Pinto, Fr Roshan Pinto, Fr Richard Anil D'Souza, Fr Mathew CMF, Fr Venil D'Silva, Fr Richard Mascarenhas SJ, Fr Franklin D'Souza, Fr Eric Mathias SJ, Fr Rayappa, Fr Ronald Furtado OCD, Fr Vinod SJ, Fr Prashanth OFM CAP, Fr William Prabhu OFM CAP, Fr Alphonse Lobo, Fr Christu Raj SDB, Fr Alvin Stanislaus, Fr George K A and other priests concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.

Rector of the Minor Basilica Fr George K A thanked Bishop Duming Dias. Bishop Francis Serrao SJ on behalf of the Diocese of Shimoga honoured bishop Duming Dias.

After the Mass Fr Franklin D'Souza, Fr Roman Pinto led the healing prayers and benediction and priests prayed over the pilgrims.
