Mangaluru, Oct 16: Lourdes Central School organized the ‘LCS Social Science Exhibition 2024’ for classes I to VIII on Wednesday, October 16, with the theme ‘Exploring the World’.
The exhibition was inaugurated during the morning assembly by the principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, along with vice principals Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas. The inaugural model was explained by Pranjal B of class IXC, while Tanvi R Shetty of class IXC spoke about the significance of the Social Science Exhibition. Students from class III showcased their talents by performing a fashion show representing the different states of India.
The objectives of the exhibition were to encourage students to apply what they learn, foster creative thinking, promote psychomotor skills through self-designed models, develop social skills necessary for peaceful living, and inculcate a sense of unity.
The topics assigned to the students for their projects were as follows:
Class I: Kinds of Houses
Class II: The Sun, The Earth, and The Moon
Class III: Clothes
Class IV: Our Culture and Heritage
Class V: Natural Disasters
Class VI: Landforms and Life
Class VII: Media and Technology
Class VIII: Industries
The models were evaluated as part of the subject enrichment activity, with judging criteria based on design and layout; content, explanation, and accuracy; artistic skill; and overall presentation. The best three models from each section were awarded certificates (I, II, and III prizes, along with two consolation prizes). By integrating social science with art, each student demonstrated remarkable creativity and explored the world around them in unique ways.
Students showcased their skills and abilities through their projects. Monish, a student from class 8A, presented his project on ‘Industries’, where he learned about uranium. He expressed his gratitude to the principal and his teacher for the opportunity to discover his abilities and skills.
