Mangaluru: Help Desk for ex-servicemen launched at Sainik Bhavan

Mangaluru, Nov 24: The Ex-Servicemen’s Association has launched a help desk to assist retired soldiers in the district with pension-related matters and the annual submission of life certificates.

The help desk operates at the Sainik Bhavan, located at Bavutagudde in the city.

An association representative explained, “Ex-servicemen are required to submit their life certificates annually in November to continue receiving their pensions. Currently, many rely on cyber centres for this process, which can be challenging for elderly veterans. To address this, we have established a help desk at our office.”

The representative added, “While cyber centres upload documents through the Jeevan Pramaan portal, delays often occur. Instead, we use the Sparsh portal, which ensures faster submission to the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions). With 3,000 members in our association across Dakshina Kannada district, we offer assistance at our office from 10 am to 2 pm. Additionally, we address issues related to the OROP scheme and updates to the names and addresses of ex-servicemen and their spouses. For those unable to visit our office, home assistance is also available.”

The association also urged former soldiers and their families to review their Pension Payment Orders (PPO) for discrepancies, assuring them that any errors will be corrected promptly.
