Mumbai, Mar 3: Laghuswapna 2025, the flagship event initiated by MBA department of St John College of Engineering & Management, Palghar which is a platform for exploring the challenges and opportunism of Small & Medium Enterprises in Palghar District was held on February 25 at St John Technical & Educational Campus Palghar. The topic selected for the current year event was ‘Supply-Chain Management’
Elaborating on the 'Emerging trends in supply-chain management', Dr A P Jayaraman, former Nuclear Scientist DAE and presently serving as president of STEAM Academy, was the chief guest for the event. Elaborating on the 'Emerging trends in supply-chain management', Dr Jayaraman stated that, supply-chain has always been in the red but we have to make it green to ensure minimal carbon footprint. It will become increasingly important to know the source of all the ingredients being used to make this chain as green as it can possibly be made. He also added that the two major trends today are artificial intelligence and green supply-chain management.



Speaking on the occasion, consultant founder & director, careerraiser.in & technominds.in and guest of honour of the event Deepa Raut expressed her happiness for having selected the topic of the Laghuswapna event as ‘Supply-chain management’ she said the government of India has secured fund to the tune of Rs 200 cr from World Bank. This fund is going to be utilised to support MSMEs for their development, under the RAMP scheme – Rising and accelerating MSMEs. She said it is good that industry people have gathered here to discuss this relevant and vital topic.
The programme started with the universal prayer followed by Saraswati Vandana. After lighting the lamp, the chairman of Aldel Education Trust, Albert W D’Souza, welcomed guests. In his welcome note, the chairman stated how Palghar being the youngest district in Maharashtra, is quickly emerging as a vibrant and dynamic hub. From a new district headquarters to an upcoming CIDCO township to the Bullet Train corridor, dedicated freight corridor, extension of four-track railway services to Dahanu, the Bombay-Baroda Expressway, and the highly anticipated Vadhawan seaport, he said, “Palghar is a happening place.”
Talking to the audience about St John Technical and Education Campus, the chairman spoke briefly about its journey. He mentioned that with two autonomous institutes, the campus is offering education from KG to PG with 34 multidisciplinary higher education courses. With regard to autonomous institutes the curriculum is designed in close alignment with industry needs, ensuring the integration of industry inputs at every stage of teaching and learning. He also said about the commitment of St John Campus in developing an innovative and future-ready educational environment. He also announced that St John Engineering College has been selected to establish an AICTE Idea Lab which is a prestigious central government initiative.
The event was followed with panel discussion covering from block-chain technology to artificial intelligence. Panellists touched upon several thought-provoking topics, offering insights into the evolving landscape of supply-chain management. The panel discussion was moderated by Prashant Shivsharan, value-delivery programme manager-supply-chain& digital transformation, Castrol India Ltd Panel members included Dr Ramanand Jadhav, DGM, environment, JNPT, Jalendra kumar Darji, AGM-SCM, Naprod Life Sciences Pvt Ltd, Naitik Sanghrajka, CEO- sales & marketing, UIDC Pvt Ltd.
One of the topics discussed in the panel discussion was on collaborative supply chains. According to the panellists the concept has gained significant momentum over the past five to six years. Industrialists in similar sectors are coming together to collaborate and provide the best solutions to customers.
The event was attended by 111 industry representatives from 66 companies. Additionally, many postgraduate and undergraduate students actively participated in the event and cleared their doubts with the panellists.
Elvina D’Souza, secretary of Aldel Education Trust, Elaine D’Souza Buthello, treasurer and Aldridge D’Souza, member of the trust were present during the event.
