Mangaluru, Oct 30: The students and staff of Carmel School joyously observed United Nations Day on October 24 in the school auditorium. The occasion served as a reminder that the entire world is bound by the common thread of peace and fraternity. The event opened with a warm greeting from the master of ceremonies, highlighting the need to uphold global harmony and understanding among nations.
The celebration began with a serene prayer service led by the students, invoking blessings for unity and goodwill among nations. With a symbolic globe placed at the centre, each child offered prayers for different continents, signifying togetherness across borders. Melodious hymns and touching reflections inspired everyone to become instruments of peace.

Following the prayer, a delightful welcome dance added colour and charm to the morning. The graceful movements of the young performers reflected the joy of oneness and the spirit of celebration.
A thought-provoking skit titled 'The Children’s United Nations' was then enacted by the students. Through simple dialogues and lively acting, they portrayed the importance of respect, collaboration, and friendship among diverse cultures.
The grand finale featured a vibrant dance medley on the UNO theme, beautifully blending songs like Aashayein (symbolizing hope), Give Me Fire, Give Me Freedom (reflecting the spirit of empowerment and liberty), and Khol De Par (signifying the courage to break free and soar high). The lively performance encapsulated the ideals of hope, freedom, and union that the United Nations stands for, filling the hall with infectious energy, pride, and a shared sense of global solidarity.
Sr Premal, the vice principal, then addressed the assembly with an inspiring message on the power of peace — peace among nations, within homes, classrooms, and, most importantly, within each heart. She reminded everyone that genuine peace begins within, and when it dwells in the human heart, it naturally radiates to others. Her thoughtful words encouraged all to be peace makers, not peace breakers, and to spread love wherever they go.
The programme was compered by Alura, Nashwa, Aadithya, Hajra, Nooha, Lassya, Ruhab, and Yathvik, while Reuben expressed gratitude to everyone for their contribution through a well-delivered vote of thanks.
