Mangaluru, Nov 1: Carmel School, CBSE, Kotekar, celebrated Kannada Rajostava with great enthusiasm and reverence, honouring the rich heritage, culture, and unity of Karnataka.

The programme commenced with a soulful prayer song by the students of class II, invoking divine blessings, followed by a vibrant welcome dance symbolizing joy and pride in the Kannada land and language.

The formal welcome address was delivered by Fathima Soudha and Imhal Abbas, who extended warm greetings to the chief guest, Usha M, retired Kannada teacher from B M School, Ullal, along with Sr Anitha AC, Sr Ashwina AC (Coordinator), and Disha (Coordinator).

Students Adhya U and Mohammad Shazil Sheikh presented the significance of the day, highlighting the history and importance of Kannada Rajyotsava. This was followed by an energetic dance performance and an inspiring skit on ‘Oggattinali Balavide’ (Strength in Unity), which beautifully portrayed pride in one’s language and cultural identity.

The chief guest, Usha M, congratulated everyone on the occasion and delivered a thought-provoking address. She spoke about the vital role of teachers in nurturing students with patience and understanding, and emphasized the cultural unity of Karnataka. She proudly noted that Kannada is among the languages honored with the highest number of Jnanpith Awards, and shared a meaningful short story on the importance of preserving and promoting Kannada in an era of linguistic diversity. She encouraged everyone to read Kannada, write Kannada, and speak Kannada with pride.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Jishan Sai Kotian, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, teachers, coordinators, and students for their contribution to making the day a memorable one. The event was gracefully compered by Arush and Sharvi S Bangera, who seamlessly led the sequence of programmes.

The celebration was a beautiful reminder that Kannada is not merely a language but an emotion — a symbol of identity, unity, and cultural pride that binds every Kannadiga together.
