Mangaluru: Kannada Rajyotsava celebrated at St Theresa’s School, Bendur

Mangaluru, Nov 1: St Theresa’s School, Bendur, celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava with great pride and enthusiasm on November 1. The students of grades IV, V, VIII, and IX presented a vibrant and meaningful programme that beautifully reflected the rich culture and heritage of Karnataka.

The chief guest, Chandrahas Shetty, along with the school correspondent, Sr Shaila BS, principal, Sr Lourdes BS, and PTA vice president, Collette Cabral, graced the occasion.

The celebration began with the dignitaries lighting the traditional lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the spreading of knowledge. A melodious prayer song set a serene tone for the event, followed by a graceful welcome dance. The audience was then treated to a series of captivating performances a classical dance, a powerful dance drama portraying Karnataka’s rich cultural legacy, and a comedy skit in Kannada that creatively highlighted the value of education in a light-hearted manner.

Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause as students showcased their talents with confidence and pride. The chief guest, in his address, emphasized the importance of nurturing love and respect for the Kannada language and upholding its legacy in everyday life.

The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, leaving the audience with smiles and a renewed appreciation for Karnataka’s culture and language.

The day truly embodied the spirit of the famous lines — “Elladaru iru, Enthadaru iru, Endendigu nee Kannadavagiru” (Wherever you are, however you are, always be a proud Kannadiga!).
