Mangaluru, Nov 1: Observing the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, St Agnes School (CBSE), celebrated National Unity Day on October 31 in the School Hall. The programme aimed to remind students of the importance of unity, peace, and integrity in strengthening the nation. It highlighted the vision of Sardar Patel, whose unwavering determination helped unite India after independence.

The celebration commenced with a soulful prayer service seeking God’s blessings for peace and togetherness, followed by symbolic prayers that reflected the essence of unity and national integrity. Tanvi of grade 9C welcomed the gathering with warmth and enthusiasm. During the welcome address, the guest of the day, Violet, a dedicated and respected faculty member of St Agnes School, was accorded a floral welcome. Vidisha of grade 9C then highlighted the significance of the day, emphasizing the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the importance of unity in diversity.

A short skit titled ‘The Iron Man Who United India’ presented by the students of grade 3B depicted the life and contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The performances that followed, including a dance tribute, a mime, and the Unity in Diversity dance, beautifully portrayed the essence of India’s cultural richness and the strength of standing united amidst diversity.

Violet, in her inspiring address, urged students to uphold Sardar Patel’s vision by promoting harmony, cooperation, and respect among all. She emphasized that unity is the foundation of every great nation. Before the conclusion, everyone took the National Unity Day pledge, reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of unity and national integrity. It was solemnly read out by the assistant head girl, Aradhana Shetty, who led the gathering in pledging to preserve the spirit of oneness and work together for the nation’s progress and harmony.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Emmanuel of grade 3B, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the celebration. The programme served as a meaningful reminder that India’s strength lies in its unity, and its diversity is its pride. It inspired every student to cherish the values of togetherness and work towards building a more united and harmonious nation.
