Mangaluru, Nov 1: Kannada Rajyotsava Celebration was held at St Agnes High School with great fervour and patriotic zeal in the school hall. The programme was hosted by class 9B. The entire stage was beautifully decorated with red and yellow drapes symbolizing the state flag of Karnataka.

The programme commenced with a prayer invoking the blessings of the Almighty, accompanied by the reading of sacred verses from the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, and the Quran, signifying unity in diversity. This was followed by a graceful semi-classical welcome dance. The boys of the class presented a short humorous yet thoughtful skit highlighting the importance of the Kannada language and its rich cultural heritage.

Their performance not only entertained but also reminded everyone of the pride associated with preserving one’s mother tongue. Viola read the significance of the day. A vibrant contemporary dance, showcasing the youthful energy of the students was performed for the Kannada songs.

The quiz segment, supported by an engaging PowerPoint presentation, tested students’ knowledge of Karnataka’s history, culture, and achievements, adding an intellectual dimension to the celebration. It was conducted by Rebecca and Prathvi. The programme concluded with an inspiring address by the head mistress, Sr Gloria AC.

She spoke in Kannada urging students to uphold the values and traditions of Karnataka while striving for excellence in all fields. The event ended with the singing of the state anthem 'Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate', filling every heart with pride and devotion. The class teacher Wilma Veigas meticulously planned the programme and trained the students. Rhea and Avil compered the event and Anushka proposed the vote of thanks.
