The formal programme commenced with a soulful prayer song by the college choir, followed by a vibrant welcome dance that filled the atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm. The dignitaries were escorted to the dais by the staff convener, Yashaswini. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Velita Sibon Lobo, a renowned singer and vocal trainer. The programme was presided over by Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, rector of St Aloysius Institutions. Also present on the dais were Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ, principal of St Aloysius PU College; Fr Anthony Derrick SJ, campus minister; vice-principals Muralikrishna G M and Vilma Fernandes; deans Kiran Shetty and Inas Dais; and student conveners Steve D’Souza and Delaine Fernandes.

Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, dignitaries, students, staff, and parents. In his address, he commended the students for their creativity, dedication, and discipline in preparing for one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the academic year. Introducing the chief guest, he highlighted her musical journey and achievements, including winning the Konkani reality show Muzo Thalo Ghaithalo and recording over eighty original songs.

The unveiling of the symbols of melody and unity by Dr Velita Sibon Lobo marked the official inauguration of Music Day 2025. In her inspiring address, Dr Velita remarked that music has been an integral part of human life—from the nursery rhymes of childhood to the songs that mark life’s milestones. She emphasized that music is the result of the collective effort of lyricists, composers, and musicians, and that its true success lies in the joy it brings to its listeners. She concluded by expressing her gratitude to the college for the invitation and wished the students continued success in their artistic pursuits.

In his presidential address, Fr Melwin Pinto SJ noted that Dr Velita had discovered her singing talent quite by accident, encouraging students to explore and nurture their own hidden gifts. Reflecting on the emotional power of music, he observed that in times of sorrow, people often connect deeply with lyrics, while in moments of joy, rhythm and beat take precedence. He urged the audience to embrace music as a source of inspiration and self-expression and wished all the performers continued success.

Certificates of appreciation were presented to the student conveners, band captains, and members of the art and technical teams in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the event. Yashaswini proposed the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of this memorable celebration of music.

The audience was then treated to a mesmerizing live performance by Dr Velita Sibon Lobo, whose soulful renditions of popular songs filled the auditorium with melody and emotion.
