Belagavi, Dec 21: Essential health services will be delivered at the doorstep in remote, inaccessible and hilly areas through the ‘Arogya Setu’ mobile health units, said Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao here.
Speaking during the inauguration of the mobile health units in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, he said the initiative aims to provide quality healthcare to every member of society. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah flagged off the units.
Each mobile health unit will incur a monthly expenditure of Rs 1.92 lac. A total of 41 vehicles have already been allocated to North Karnataka, the minister said.

He further explained that 81 units have currently been deployed for service. Under the National Health Mission, 49 units will operate, while 32 units under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes sub-plan will function in SC/ST reserved areas. These units will provide both primary healthcare and community care services.
The units are being implemented at the district level, with vehicles procured on a lease basis. Each vehicle will be staffed with an MBBS doctor, a nurse and a technician. Services will be provided on pre-scheduled dates and times at designated locations, he added.
