Bengaluru, Dec 21: The Vocal Horizon, a group of around 20 professionals and students from diverse fields in Bengaluru, chose to celebrate Christmas this year with a purpose beyond festivity. The group organised its first-ever outreach performance drive on December 14, blending traditional Christmas carols with multilingual songs of hope and harmony.
Through the initiative, the group collected Rs 50,000 in a single day, aiming to spread cheer while also raising awareness and support for paediatric cancer care.

Dr Arun Kumar, professor and head of the Department of Paediatric Oncology, appreciated the noble gesture and took the opportunity to explain the nature of cases being treated at the ward. The initiative was carried out seamlessly with the cooperation of hospital authorities and volunteers.
The initiative supported essential medical care and treatment for seven children aged between 3 and 14 years from West Bengal and Karnataka —Vedhavathi, Kiranya, Tejas, Gowri Sarkar, Ganesh, Ruthvik, and Arish Khan. The children have been diagnosed with paediatric blood and immune system disorders, including acute myeloid leukaemia, acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, and Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
In her words, the coordinator of The Vocal Horizon, Clerita Lobo, said, “Through these carols, we wanted to bring smiles to children who are undergoing difficult treatment and show our solidarity with their families.”
The group expressed its interest in continuing similar initiatives in the future, using music to support social causes across the city. The Vocal Horizon also expressed heartfelt gratitude to donors who invited them into their homes and to others who contributed generously, helping make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.
