Beltangady, Jun 11: Ashoknagar in Dharmasthala village witnessed a rare and profoundly emotional scene as a man who went missing 26 years ago as a young boy unexpectedly returned home to reunite with his mother.

The man, originally named Satish, is the eldest son of Kunhi and Akku. In the year 2000, when he was just a 12-year-old boy, he left his hometown with a circus company during the famous Dharmasthala Lakshadeepotsava festival. He never returned, leaving his family completely clueless about his whereabouts.

Despite exhaustive searches by his family, Satish could not be traced. His grief-stricken mother, Akku, spent over two decades clinging to the hope that her son would return one day, refusing to give up faith.

New life in Maharashtra

After leaving his hometown, Satish eventually reached Maharashtra. Over the years, he built a completely new life for himself, working various jobs in marriage halls, decoration services, hotels, and as a driver. Along the way, his identity changed, and he became known as Salim Abdul Ansari.

He married a woman named Talima, and the couple settled into a peaceful life in a rented house in Maharashtra with their 14-year-old daughter, Khushi, and 9-year-old son, Azam.

Faint memories trigger return

Although he was well-settled and living happily as Salim Abdul Ansari, a deep-seated longing to find his original home remained in his heart. However, his memories of his childhood village and family were highly fragmented and blurred.

Recently, he travelled over 1,500 km from Maharashtra to Dharmasthala along with some friends to visit the temple. As he was walking on the road opposite the temple, the familiar surroundings suddenly triggered a rush of old, forgotten memories.

The emotional reunion

Driven by these resurfacing memories, he walked into a local shop owned by a man named Yatheesh. Satish explained to the shopkeeper that he originally belonged to the same village and had left 26 years ago. He was able to recall and recite the names of his parents and his brother.

Surprised by the revelation, Yatheesh immediately contacted Satish's family and informed them. Within a short time, a large crowd of locals gathered at the spot.

The climax of the 26-year-old separation was tearful and joyous as his mother, Akku, rushed to the spot and tightly embraced her long-lost son, breaking down into tears of joy. His younger brother, Nagesh, was also overwhelmed with happiness upon seeing his elder brother alive and well.

After 26 years of painful separation and a complete change of life, the family has finally been made whole again, filling the household with celebratory joy.
