HDK Gets into Action - Throws the Net on 'Unhappy' BJP MLAs

Narayana Swamy
Political Analyst - Daijiworld Media Network

Bangalore, Jul 17 : While BJP's newly-elected CM, deputy CMs and ministers are busy with celebrations and thanksgiving meetings, former Karnataka CM and state JD(S) chief H D Kumaraswamy has already started playing his political 'game' with an eye on the upcoming state elections which are due next year.

Though nothing definite has come to light, the 'hide and seek' games of HDK are on. As a first step in doing the homework for the next election, he, with the help of state Muslim BJP leader Zameer, masterminded the mega 'JD(S) Muslim convention' which attracted over 2 lac people statewide.

And now, Kumaraswamy is in no mood to waste time when it comes to taking advantage of BJP's internal conflict which erupted ever since the new ministry took oath under the leadership of Jagadish Shettar. At least 18-20 BJP MLAs who are tagged as 'unhappy' with the current government for not considering them in the ministry, are reportedly in touch with HDK planning their next move.

Belur Gopalkrishna, who was first to show his dissent after being denied ministerial berth in the Shettar government, met HDK on Monday at the latter's residence and held a closed-door meeting for more than 35 minutes. Though, later Belur clarified that it was just a 'courtesy' visit to HDK, the meeting created ripples in the political circles.

"HDK is a former CM of our state, what's wrong in meeting him? It's just a courtesy call, there's no question of me leaving BJP and joining JD(S). We did not discuss any political issue," he told reporters later.

According to reports from political analysts, Belur's meeting with HDK has a lot of political significance, as HDK has already started his preparations for the next elections. He first offered Halady Srinivas Shetty a place in the JD(S) to strengthen the party in coastal cities. He personally called Shetty, and made even Deve Gowda speak to him.

Secondly, HDK personally invited B Nagaraj Shetty, who resigned as coastal development authority chairman on not getting representation for DK MLAs in the Shettar ministry. Final touches are reportedly being given to Nagaraj Shetty's hop to JD(S).

HDK also contacted another 'unhappy' MLA from DK, Sullia MLA Angara. But Angara had taken one week's time to decide about his future in BJP.

HDK is very serious in strengthening JD(S) presence in the coastal belt after the outrage from Vokkaliga community for removing D V Sadananda Gowda from the CM post.

Belur might have met HDK to seek ticket from JD(S) to contest the next assembly election, and reportedly HDK has agreed to the same.

Father - Son Plan :

Speaking to reporters, H D Deve Gowda confirmed that BJP's 'unhappy' MLAs are in regular touch with his son. "No one is in touch with me, but yes, they are in touch with Kumaraswamy. Nothing wrong in that. Now when they are in trouble, we will try to help them out. It is politics, anything can happen here," he said.

Also, as next the plan of action, JD(S) is planning to host mega JD(S) SC, JD(S) ST, and JD(S) women conventions, just like 'JD(S) Muslim convention they recently held.

The Calculation :

HDK's current calculation is to pull down BJP government with the help of those 'Unhappy' MLAs and then go for elections within this year. He is aware that Sriramulu-backed three MLAs will not attend or support the current government in the upcoming asembly session, where an important financial bill is to be passed. If Halady resigns, then the 121-member strength of BJP MLAs will come down to 117. If HDK manages with other 20 'unhappy' MLAs, then it will be a testing time for Shettar.

Anything can happen, there are no permanent friends and enemies in politics !

One cannot imagine the money paid to MLAS to defect to BJP during operation kamala. The game they played is very dirty. They have no right to critisize Jd(S). Congress has become silent spectator. Congress in state is not a ideal party as it does not have a able leaders and also their earlier CMS were not impressive. Also there are no ministerial candidates in their party. They had some leaders but they became victims of BJp money power .

So Mr Ismailji, you finallly admit "if we could correctly accumulate it would be more than 2G plus!!!". That means in simple sense BJP's 100 scams is equal to congress 1 scam. 100=1 what a good comparision given my congress own supportors & then they say BJP is corrupt & congress is "Saidhanthika" Party. Btb to beat Adrash scam then BJP has to come back to power again....which is currently doubtfull with the situation in Karnataka!

For all people commenting, first of all HDK and JDS are at least fulfilling the duties of the opposition party. Congress is sleeping. BJP except for Shri Sadananda Gowda's rule is looting Karnataka. In between this looting and sleeping what is wrong is HDK plays his political games? How did BJP come to power? Using Ill gotten wealth from Reddy brothers to fund operation kamala and unlawfully and immorally increase their numbers in the assembly. The next govt can surely investigate it. It will be a bigger scam than JMM scam during Narasimha Rao's rule.
Therefore nothing wrong in HDK doing this. Only JDS has so far raised its voice against attacks on the minorities and lower castes. Only JDS has raised is voice for Kannada language. Anyone is better than looting of Karnataka under BJP. They are such thugs that they did not even allow a honest CM like Sadananda Gowda to continue as he did not allow corruption.

Dear Ismailji "CONGRESS PARTY only can give Stable govt!". Unfortunately for you this will be only history brother. Those were the times when our people where still in sleep, taken for a ride by dynasty political family who imposed emergency when they couldnt handle the growing frustation of the people, who divided the society on cummunal lines by giving food to to one person of particular caste and depriving other hungry man just because he dint belong to their votebank, thus instigting disharmony in the society on cummunal lines.

Now the people have woken up and gone is the era where they blindly vote for any party. UP & Goa are the perfect example for woken up India. Your congress will never rule with full majority again nor can give a stable Govt. With the tools like CBI & other investigating authority they can only give blackmail Govt. In the next Karnanataka election, forsure it will be Coalation Govt with JDS playing the kingmaker. Now the question is whcih will be that party whih will compromise its principle and make a twenty twenty alliance. Weather its desperate congress or Chaddiless BJP. Jai HO

As long as Mr. Kumaraswamy pokes his nose in between to pull the votes, Congress cannot win Unless the bjp votes are divided.
The present scenerio shows the tide is moving towards congress as the bjp house is divided and may collapse at any time in the very near future.

Plans are rosy but not so easy in realization:
    • No MLA wants early election
    • In the disgruntled lot, except few have the credibility of winning next election
    • Many in the so called dissidents – already burnt their fingers and scared of Anti Defection Law and disqualification.
    • To topple the Govt. JDS needs co-operation of Congress.
    • If it drowns on its own weight, it’s better than bringing it down and instead handing over BJP with a sympathy card.

In my opinion, JDS will emerge as No.1 in the next elections, if not majority. They were the biggest beneficiaries of sadananda Gowda's removal in that it has polarised entire Vokkaliga community in their favor. If they are able to get some significant muslim pie from Congress, it wont be surprising to see them get many seats.
