Mangalore Home Stay Attack : Commissioner's Head to Roll ?

Mangalore, Aug 28 : Weeks after Karnataka Women's Commission chief C Manjula submitted her report on the July 28 Morning Mist Home Stay attack, it is believed that the government has taken no action, and has perhaps not even gone through the report. But Manjula's report does seem to have made some impact, as there is high possibility of city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh's transfer from Mangalore.
If reports reaching daijiworld are to be believed, district's top politicians and influential leaders have put pressure on the government to transfer Seemanth Kumar from Mangalore, as he was ably handling the case, meting out 'very good treatment' to all the 22 arrested in the case. Some sources have told daijiword that the accused have been taught 'nice lessons' so that they never indulge in such business again.
It is learnt that these leaders are pressuring the government taking strong cue from Manjula's report, where she blamed 'police failure' as one of the reasons for the home stay attack.
Some influential people have also reportedly lobbied for the release of a few accused from jail, claiming there were innocent. Since Seemanth Kumar was not interested in releasing anyone, some people are busy planning his transfer from Mangalore, it is believed.
As if to complement the transfer rumours, the state government has reportedly sent Seemanth Kumar to London for higher training with Scotland police for a period of two months. Perhaps this could be a way to keep Seemanth Kumar away from Mangalore, and bring 'political leader-friendly' commissioner in his stead.
In today's political scenario, there are two best ways to keep police officials from a particular place. First, transfer as punishment, if you have done something wrong. Secondly, promote and send him/her away, if you have done something straightforward !
Meantime, none of the accused have been booked under Goonda Act so far. As state home minister R Ashok had assured to book Subash Padil under Goonda Act in assembly, it would not be easy to release the accused.
