HDK's Move to Allot Ticket to Newcomer a Political Stunt?

HDK's Move to Allot Ticket to Newcomer a Political Stunt?

Mangalore, Oct 29:
What happens when a person who has just joined a political party gets to contest in the assembly election immediately, especially when 'immediately' means only a few minutes after the person has been inducted to the party?

It is seen by all and sundry as a political stunt.

Such an episode was witnessed at the JD(S) party convention held at Town Hall here on Monday October 29. Though A Sadananda Shetty’s inclusion in the party was announced at a press meet held earlier by the district JD(S), no one had predicted him that he would be named the next MLA candidate from the party.

Perhaps for the first time in recent years, ticket to contest the state assembly elections has been allotted to a person who has never been engaged in any party activity. This is nothing but a clear case of caste appeasing politics, said a senior citizen who was present at the programme, while speaking to Daijiworld.

He added that there are many party leaders who have been active in politics, but who have been sidelined only for the reason that their ‘caste’ does not ‘yield’ votes for the party.

Caste politics is not a new phenomena in the state politics; however JD(S) which claims itself to be a secular party is openly engaged in calculation of votes on the basis of caste. Undoubtedly, in the coastal region including the DK district, Bunts are the majority community and eyeing their votes, the ticket has been given to Sadananda Shetty.

Here it may be recalled that Nagaraj Shetty had declined from contesting the elections though he too belongs to Bunts community.

As if to drive the point home, JD(S) youth state president Madhu Bangarappa’s openly made an attempt to woo the people of Billava community in his speech.

At the same time, rumours are rife within the political circles that having appeased the Bunts community, the candidature of Sadananda Shetty may be withdrawn at the last minute and he may replaced by a politically strong candidate.

Many Aaya Ram , Gaya Ram have been there, Would be surprised when Sadanand shetty will loose the election minus some of his wealth. Nagaraj Shetty is a smart wit who did not want to spend . JDS doesnt want to spend party fund in a place they are not sure of winning hence this stunt. Doesnt take rocket science to undertand this. Once more a scape goat, When fame gets into your ears, Your blind as a hot hen.

Stephen, mangalore - In India elections are NOT fought on the points you have mentioned. If elections are fought on your points then people need to have a choice called NONE OF THESE which Nehru removed in 1948 itself. Caste. money, liquor and party strength are main deciding factors.

Mlore has 3 seats and chances of BJP winning all three are bright. Mlore south is a easy win. Mlore north would see tough contest if a non muslim contests from INC and Mlore would be a new addition for BJP.

Congis looted country with the leader ship of Maun mohan for 8 and half years now to fool the people they brought 4/5 youngters
in the govt. this is nothing but eye wash. These youngsters will be seen folding hands with white dress to sonia madam and amul baby and all other sinior leaders more than that they are good for nothing. Whatever the tricks congis apply they have no chance of winning more than 30 seats.

No pointing in blaming the politicians, when they are just acting according to the mind set of people. As soon as people start looking at / support political candidates from the ability, leadership and qualification perspective we will definitely see a change in the pattern of candidates being put up by the political parties

This is not new in State or national politics to Allot Ticket to new comer to the Politics. In the year 2004 one TV Anchor named Tejaswini given Congress Ticket to contest Kanakapura Loksabha seat against H.D.Devegowda. If I am not wrong, in the year 1981 one just resigned Air India Pilot named Rajiv Gandhi given the Amethi By-election Ticket after the death of Sanjay Gandhi!!!!!!.

HD Kumaraswamy is day dreaming of getting around 50-60 seats. But it is highly impossible for him. He may win 5 extra seats in addition to existing seats.

He is planning to establish his party in Coastal districts. That is reason he is visiting Mangalore every week. When he was CM, hardly few times he visited the city.
