Mumbai, Mar 20: A unique event was organized by St John Institute of Management and Research (SJIMR) called 'Laghuswapna' which is a ‘Small And Medium Enterprise’ (SME) event focused towards showcasing the SME’s located between Vasai and Dahanu inclusive of approximate 80,000 companies.
‘Laghuswapna 2013’ was the third such annual event organized recently with the theme 'Dreaming Quality…………A Reality' at ALDEL Education Trusts' St John Technical Campus at Palghar, Mumbai.
This event was an effort to bring a team of professionals from the different verticals of SME’s onto a common platform.
The highlight of this event was the panel discussions for which panelists from different Industrial Organizations, Banks, NGO’s and Academics shared their valuable insights. The Master of Management Studies (MMS) students of SJIMR made a detailed survey on the quality and environment aspects of SME’s specifically in this area under the guidance of their faculty.
The event began with the inauguration ceremony which was followed by the panel discussions, presentations, prize distribution and cultural events performed by the students of MMS. The chief guest, Mahesh V Gandhi and the guest of honor, Ivan Saldanha enlightened the students with their valuable thoughts on 'Dreaming Quality………A Reality'.
The students of SJIMR were fortunate to be graced with the experiences of the experts, on the following topics:
1. The Environment Quality Measures Adopted By SME’s -

2. Ethical Quality Practices Of SME’s -

3. Quality in Systems ( HR, Marketing, Finance, Operations and IT) -

Panelists - Dr Satish Takalikar, Jolly Mathews, Maxim Pinto
Three groups of students displayed their presentations on the SME’s, which mainly focused on the quality and environmental aspects practiced by different SME’s. Some of the prominent SME’s presented by the students during this event were Kokuyo Camlin Ltd, Associated Capsules Pvt Ltd and Fledon engineering works. On the conclusion of the presentation, the dignitaries opined and suggested their views.
‘Laghuswapna 2013’ was adjudged a huge success- thanks to the contributions made by the various entities.
