Mumbai, Apr 10: A new Konkani social comedy drama written by Joseph D'Souza Borivli was staged successfully in Bhayander on April 7 at Our Lady of Nazareth School Ground Bhayander. The drama was staged on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of Konkani Catholic Welfare Association Bhayander.
The programme began with a stage programme. Parish Priest of Bhayander church Fr Anselm Gonsalves, assistants Fr Michael Pen, Fr Anthony Banz and Church School head mistress Gracy Mendonca were the guest of the programme.
Jacintha Fernandes, Leena Corda and Lawrence D'Cunha honoured the guests with the bouquets. Writer and director of the drama Joseph D'Souza Borivli was honoured during the occasion. Fr Anslem released the souvenir. George A Sequeira, president, compered the programme.
The cultural programme started with the dance performance by Riyola Mathias Mira Road. The story of the drama is that a beautiful girl Estel who gets three proposals from the three rich grooms who reside in America, New Zealand and England respectively. Knowing their actual motto to grab her property of 50 acres, Estel tests them and gives the verdict that she rejects them all and chooses to join the convent.
Though the story looked very simple, the dialogues and the characters kept the audience waiting for the climax. Natural comedy inculcated in the drama made it a crowd pleaser.
Joseph D'Souza Borilvi who spent 20 years in the gulf is now enjoying his retired life by producing Konkani dramas. He is the writer, director, production controller of this drama.
The actors are Helen Noronha Mira Road (Carminebai), Hilda D'Souza Pangla/Orlem (Marybai), George Sequeira Bhayander (Rtd Postmaster Antony Pereira), Kalaratn Kalasamrat William Machado Borivli (MLA Bajilam), Ronald D'Costa Bhayander (Rocky), Felex D'Souza Malvani (Rony), Romeo Lobo Borivli (Joe), Cyril Monis Borivli (Kisthu), Henry D'Souza Borivli (Inthru), Ida Pereira Bhayander (Filu), Janet Saldanha Borivli (Sr.Braganza) and the key role played by daiji dubai award winner Florine Mathias Mira Road (Estel).
The songs were composed by Late Joker Cascia, music arranged by Lancy Almeida Mira Road, Harry Bantwal and Cyril Pereira Borivli worked as stage managers. Ivan Sequeira, Florine Mathias, Charles D'Cunha and Lancy Almeida contributed their melodious voice to the songs.
William D'Souza managed the lightings, Sandeep did the makeup.Veronica Noronha Borivli choreographed the dances in the drama. The stage was set up by Gauli and sounds were provided by Dale.
