Mangalore, Feb 7: Karnataka Bank general manager Jayagopal Yekkar died of a massive cardiac arrest on Monday Feb 6. Yekkar joined Kamataka Bank in 1975 and worked in many key positions both in the operational and controlling capacities.
He served as manager at Mumbai-Fort branch, chief manager at New Delhi branch, assistant general manager at Bangalore regional office and also as the deputy general manager-in-charge of specialised advances and planning and development department.
It was Yekkar who took the initiative of introducing several innovative and technology-backed products like Multi Branch Banking, K-Flexi Deposit and Money plant ATM. He also played a key role in the bank's foray into life insurance business.
As general manager, he was in charge of planning and development department and the vigilance cell Yekkar held strategic portfolios like recovery, legal, risk management, MIS cell and information technology departments.
