Four toppers in ICSE Class 10 exam, girls outshine boys


New Delhi, May 21 (IANS): Girls have performed better than boys in the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) for Class 10, which this year has four toppers securing 98.6 percent apiece, an official said Wednesday.

The ICSE results were declared Wednesday by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE).

"Girls have a pass percentage of 99.83 percent, while boys have a pass percentage of 99.50 percent," CISCE secretary Gerry Arathon said at a press conference here.

Though girls have performed better than boys, among the four toppers, three are boys.

Shreyas Sudhaman from Kumaran Public School, Bangalore; Apoorva Narayanswamy from St. Paul's English School, Bangalore; Siddhartha Shankar Kahali from Little Flower School, Jamshedpur and Rishabh Raj from St. Paul's School, Rourkela are the highest scorers all over India.

In total, 149,087 students appeared for the examinations this year. There are 1,841 schools affiliated to the board.
