Mangalore, Aug 3: "The state government will build 10,000 houses for fisheries families which come under BPL list. Each house will be built a cost of Rs 30,000 each," said fisheries minister B Nagaraj Shetty.
He was speaking after inaugurating the awareness seminar of fisheries women at Matsyagandhi building here on Wednesday August 2.
He assured that government is committed for the welfare of fisheries. "A special scheme will be drawn for the welfare of fisheries women. Separate rest houses and fishing markets with toilet facilities will be established throughout the state," he added.
ZP president D S Mamata Gatti presided over the inaugural function. Members Pramod Kumar, Sushma Janardhan, taluk panchayat president Gokuldas Shetty, deputy director of women and child development department Gertrude Veigas, fisheries college dean D P Keshavanand too were present on the occasion.
