AL AIN, Aug 26: — Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm yesterday lashed Al Ain and its surrounding areas bringing the temperature down to 38 degree Celsius. Prior to it, a sandstorm swept through Al Ain.

It began to pour around 3pm and it continued till 4:55pm. A Met official said dust-laden winds blew from the northwest at 48km per hour.

He further said that haziness prevailed over most parts of the UAE, with some low clouds gathering over the eastern and northern areas.

Heavy rains are predicted here today, the Met Office said. The weather will remain humid at night with haze and mist in some areas early in the morning, he added. The maximum humidity at Al Ain yesterday hovered around 35 per cent.

The rains brought some relief from the scorching heat over the past few days.
