Acharya Tulsi's teachings hold great relevance: Pranab

New Delhi, Oct 26 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee said the teachings of Acharya Tulsi hold "great relevance for moral upliftment of individuals and transformation of nations alike", a statement said Sunday.

"Acharyaji's teachings and words of wisdom hold great relevance for moral upliftment of individuals and transformation of nations alike," the President said after he was presented with the first copy of "Tulsi Smriti Granth" on Acharya Tulsi at a function in Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

"The lives of people in modern times are both a matter of opportunity and challenge, of stability and turbulence. Every word inscribed in the book is an article of faith that followers should bear in their hearts for life," he said.

The President expressed hope that the messages in the granth would "travel far and wide and are imbibed by people".

Born in 1914 in Ladnun, Rajasthan, Acharya Tulsi was a prominent Jain religious leader and was coronated as the ninth Acharya of Terapanth. He passed away in 1997.
