Mangalore, Jan 10: The Autonomy Standing Committee visited St Aloysius College here on Wednesday January 10 to inspect the college and its facilities in view of  imminent grant of autonomy.

The Committee was given a warm welcome by the SAC Management which also gave a presentation on the college, its life, activities, its strengths and potentials.

The Committee moved from department to department inspecting the infrastructure and expertise of the college to deal with imminent autonomy. They met the student representatives to listen to the student view, and then the staff to get their take on autonomy.

If the autonomy is granted to the college, it would be only for undergraduate courses and not for postgraduates courses.

The committee was of the opinion that the state governement is against giving autonomy to PG courses, while in actuality, Bangalore University and Shimoga Universities have granted it to their colleges.
