Dubai, Jan 19: Industralist Nusli Wadia was questioned at Dubai airport after a pistol with 30 live rounds of ammunition were found in his luggage.

Nusli Wadia, was found to be flying from Mumbai to Dubai last week with a revolver and 30 live bullets. Wadia, the chairman of the clothing giant Bombay Dyeing and the private airline Go Air was flying on Jan.13 on an Air India flight. The firearm and bullets were detected when his bag went through the screening machine at the security counter at Dubai airport.

The businessman was questioned by Dubai security and immigration officials who seized the pistol and bullets and a statement from him was recorded, according to BBC online.

The question now is how the security apparatus at Mumbai airport failed to detect the weapon and ammunition in his luggage despite stringent security checks and procedures. Aviation authorities have launched an enquiry and Air India has removed at least one official for the security breach.

Commenting on the incident later, Wadia said that he was not aware that he was carrying a gun and bullets in his baggage. He said that his baggage was packed by his servant who put them in his luggage by mistake. Referring to the incident, he said that It's no more than a storm in a tea-cup and clarified that he was neither detained nor questioned in Dubai but only his statement was taken by the airport officials. His pistol and bullets were reportedly kept by the Dubai airport officials throughout his stay there. It is not known whether it was returned to him when he left Dubai. He said the incident was a mistake and that he was able to show his license for the weapon and ammunition to the authorities.

Just a few months ago, Nusli Wadia's son, Ness Wadia, popular for being actress Preity Zinta's boyfriend, ran into trouble for beating up his Girl friend's building watchman and also one of his employees.
