Lagos, July 6 (IANS): At least 44 people were killed in twin blasts that rocked the central northern Nigerian city of Jos, an official said on Monday.
Mohammed Abdulsalam, director of Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) while confirming the incidents that took pace on Sunday night, told reporters here that 48 others were seriously injured and were admitted in various hospitals in Jos, Xinhua news agency reported.
In a statement reaching Xinhua in Lagos, the government has condemned the twin bomb blasts and described the perpetrators as those who were trying to ensure that the state did not enjoy any form of peaceful coexistence.
The government advised residents of the city to be vigilant, adding that security was everybody's business.
