Udupi, May 24: Thieves who broke open into a house near railway bridge at Belapu near Paniyoor of Padubidri here have decamped with cash on Tuesday May 22 night.
The thieves said to have entered into one Umar Hajabba's house at Belapu near Padubidri. Umar is working abroad. His wife and mother used to stay in the house. However, his wife Saira had gone to her parental house at Mangalore. At the same time his mother Bipatumma had gone to her daughter's house at Padubidri.
Accordingly, it is suspected that theft could be the handiwork of some locals who knew that no one was in the house on Tuesday. The thieves have ransacked the entire house after gaining entry from the roof. Since they did not get any valuables including ornaments, they have fled with a few thousands of rupees in cash.
However, no complaint has yet been filed in Padubidri police station in this regard.
