Mangalore, Jun 19: A documentary film named 'An Inconvenient Truth' will be screened under the joint auspices of Swasti, the social action wing of Corporation Bank Officers' Organization (CBOO) and Citizens Forum for Mangalore Development (CFMD) on June 20 here.

'An Inconvenient Truth' is an Academy award-winning documentary film about climatic changes, specifically global warming, presented by former vice president of United States Al Gore and directed by Davis Guggenheim.

The documentary has been well received across the world and is credited with having raised awareness of global warming internationally and pushing individuals and governments' to act in this regard.

Citizens are invited come with family and friends to view the film and also actively participate in the interactive session to follow. The organizers feel that partnerships can be forged which can bring about a positive change in the living environment. They also say that citizens usually can do small things that can make a difference. Together, all can change the course of the world to make it better for the present and future generations. 

SWASTI, the Social Action Wing of CBOO has been involved in several activities of social concerns like offering help to the most backward government schools, support to orphanages and old age homes and aid to homes for the mentally challenged and terminally ill. It has been organizing participative symposia on issues like environment and social harmony. The ensuing programme is in furtherance of such commitment.

The Citizens' Forum for Mangalore Development is a voluntary association of people aspiring towards systematic and sustainable growth of the city. The vision of this civil society initiative is a well-planned, developed, equitable and humane Mangalore that is ethically governed. It seeks to facilitate and moderate the changes in and around Mangalore through responsible intervention by informed public participation.
