Kundapur, Jul 5: Demanding an increase in the honorarium of Rs 3000 to anganavadi workers and Rs 2000 to helpers, Sabitha Shetty, the president of Anganawadi Workers' Association of Kundapur taluk called upon the public to cooperate with their proposed protest through burning of effigies and blocking the road which will be held on Tuesday July 10.
The chief minister had promised to increase the honorarium, but it was yet to be fulfilled, she said. "Hence we have no other way than to take to streets and let them know our plight. If they do not still heed, we will have to intensify our protest," she continued.
Besides the gratuity amount which is to be given after the retirement should also be enhanced to Rs 1 lac and Rs 50,000 respectively. All the Anganvadi centres of the Taluka would be kept closed on that day, she added. She also requested the public and the concerned officials to cooperate with them compassionately.
