Udupi, Nov 20: It was a colourful feast for the people of Udupi who witnessed the folk cultural festival National Integration- 2015, organized by Sri Krishna Math and Paryaya Sri Kaniyur Math in association with Bharatiya Samskritika Academy.











Dances from Uttar Pradesh, mayuri dance and Orissa, the Ghattigova dance got the audience mesmerized in the riot of colours used by different ethnic groups.

The team leader for the Lavani dance of Assam, Dutta Buver, Mumbai announced that they have been performing for the past two years. The group performing the Lavani dance form for the song ‘Nakhawa Maza Daryacha Raja’ consists of 20 members. Yamini Raga was the choreographer of the team. Dnyaneshwar was the Koli choreographer. The professional team was performed under Dutt Mauli production.

Lavani is a combination of traditional song and dance, which is particularly performed to the beat of the saxophone, a percussion instrument. Lavani is noted for its powerful rhythm. Lavani has contributed substantially to the development of Marathi folk theatre. In Maharashtra and southern Madhya Pradesh and North Karnataka, it is performed by female performers wearing nine meter sarees. The songs are sung in quick tempo.

Another team arrived from Goa to perform the Deepam dance.

Manoj Kumar, managing director, Maiden media told Daijiworld media that there are 15 trained dancers in the group who have performed 200 stage shows throughout the nation.

He explained that the girls hailed from a backward community. This is a good opportunity for them to showcase their talents. The organization promotes such talent. This has been a good experience and has performed for the second time in Udupi.

About the deepam he explained that it is a special dance form of worship to Devi ma. The dance is performed by holding a lit lamp and balancing a lamp on the head. The movement includes gymnastic and other magical steps.

An enthusiastic team came from Davanagere, to perform Lambani (banjara) dance form. Shaila Shetty from Kundapur was the team leader. Elisavva is the name of the dance troupe. D L Jayaraj Nayak was the team manager. This team has participated at Mysore darbar during Dussara, SAARC convention, Kerala, Telangana, Southern zone and so on. They have performed 25 stage programs in just five years.

The Lambani is a traditional folk dance form of Karnataka specially performed during deepavali festival.

Nearly 200-400 artistes arrived from 13 states, including Karnataka, Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat, Assam, Punjab, Orissa, Jharkhand, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharastra and showcased tribal and folk dances of their respective states which are as follows: Pooja Kunitha (Karnataka), Bihu (Assam), Siddigoma (Gujrat), Kaal Beliya (Rajastan), Deepam (Goa), Ghatika (Panjab), Ghattipoova (Odissa), Bareedi (Madhya Pradesh), Joodishank (Jarkhand), Manipuri (Manipura), Raizans (West Bengal), Yallamma Jogalakatte (Karnataka Rona), Mayuri Dance (Uttar Pradesh), Drums Dance (Rajasthan), Women’s Veeragase (Karnataka), Bhootal (Assam), Lambani Dance (Karnataka) and Lavani (Maharastra.

Ramappa, Bharatiya Samskritika academy Davangere organized these professional dance troupes.

Karnataka governor Vajubai Rudabai along with other dignitaries inaugurated the four days fest.

Sri Vidyavallabha theertha Swamiji, paryaya Kaniyur Math presided over the program.

It stole the hearts of the audience. Tourists from various places visited Krishna Temple and enjoyed the musical night.
