Bengaluru, Dec 20: Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts will be observing a day-long bandh on Monday as per the call given by the Shashvatha Neeravari Horata Samiti demanding permanent measures to tackle perennial water problem.

Samiti president R Anjaneya Reddy said the day-long bandh would be observed urging the government expedite execution of projects to tackle water problems in two districts.

Normal like is likely to be affected in the two drought-prone districts of Kolar and Chikkaballapur following thebandh call.

Reddy said traffic on Bengaluru-Hyderabad in Chikkaballapur and the Mulbagal-Tirupathi road would be blocked. All business establishments, schools and colleges would be closed.

He urged the State Government to implement the G SParamashivaiah report which advocates bringing water to arid regions in the State from rivers in the Western Ghats.

However, the tail-end farmers and people of two districts would not benefit from the multi-crore Yettinahole project, he said.

The Yettinahole project has been formulated to swindle money by politicians, he alleged.

The Congress government has been cheating the people of two districts only announcing several ambitious projects without giving a serious thought for implementing them.

Kolar district–in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy and Chikkaballapur in-charge minister R Roshan Baig have not been visiting districts regularly for addressing drinking water crisis in villages, he alleged.
